NuScale small modular reactors (SMRs) have the potential to produce electricity at a lower cost compared to coal-fired power plants, while emitting no carbon. The basis of NuScale’s SMR design proposal lies in its scalability, safety, and modularity, which allows for the addition of modules to meet increasing power demands. Furthermore, the use of SMRs could bring economic benefits to communities, such as job creation and tax revenue. In addition, the report suggests that SMRs offer a more sustainable alternative to traditional power generation methods.
