Two days. 40+ participants. 10+ nationalities. From presentations and panels to brainstorming sessions—all aligned with a single shared vision: accelerating the clean repowering of coal power.
A recent two-day summit in Seoul, South Korea, brought together leaders and experts from across the globe to discuss a critical challenge: how to decarbonize coal plants without abandoning investments or displacing local workforces. Hosted by the Repower Initiative, the event highlighted the growing momentum to transform coal plants into sustainable energy hubs without fossil fuels.
The core question driving the initiative is no longer if coal plants can be decarbonized, but how, where, and when it can be achieved. To tackle this, the summit assembled a multidisciplinary network, including engineers, academics, technology innovators, policymakers, investors, and financiers, aiming to piece together a comprehensive solution.
We have held Summits in Indonesia, China, and now in South Korea. Next year, it’s Poland’s turn, where it all started for us at Repower together with our partners at DEsire.
As preparations for the Poland summit get underway, Repower has made presentations from the Seoul summit available online, offering a deep dive into the latest discussions and strategies.
